In possession of my new dress form and three new patterns, I’ve been scouring the internet to find cute cotton prints to turn into clothing, to feed my new obsession with vintage, and otherwise, dresses.

And then I found this:
Tossed Money fabric

That’s right, money print fabric, on sale for $6.29 a yard. I think I may have to buy some, and make myself a dress. Better yet, I could buy some of this pig print fabric to use as a contrast and border:

Pig Print Cotton

Then I could call it my Capitalist Pig dress. The sad thing is, the more I think about it, the more I want it. I even just bought a pattern that would be perfect:

Simplicity Pattern

Imagine that black and white, but with pigs and cash. To really make it work, though, I’d need to find black pigs on a green background that matched the money. Then, from far away, it might just look as though it had crossed the line from painfully tacky to stylishly subversive.

Update: So I found an even better pig fabric here. And as the temptation to make this dress builds, I’ve come up with some justifications for spending $25 on an essentially unwearable dress: It would be a great way to practice with a new pattern, because it wouldn’t break my heart if it didn’t turn out right, and I could wear it as a Halloween costume.  Now the question is, do I make a pig dress with money trim, or a money dress with pig trim?  Or do I sleep on it, and hope the temptation is gone by morning?
